Luca
Football Analyst, Italy
Background
As an Italian, football has always been a part of my life. However, it was only when I graduated from High School that I decided to form a career in this industry, so I decided to study 'Sports Management' at University.
After completing my studies I completed the necessary requirements to become a FIFA Agent, so I did the exam in Rome in 2005 and started working for one of the main Football Agencies in Italy.
Working at Football Radar
I initially started at Football Radar as a football watcher. Although I had watched thousands of games previously as a scout, I realized that watching for Football Radar was very different. It requires meticulous attention to detail – my analytical judgement was needed all the time and that made the role even more interesting and satisfying. After a couple of months as a watcher, I was given the chance to start training as an analyst and soon I was analyst of the Italian Serie A.
The job as an analyst includes maintaining a large database of player information, delivering a match preview, collecting stats on matches and staying up to date with everything going on with the league in general. Basically, the league became my baby within months and I reached a level of knowledge on Italian football that was superior and much more fact-based than what it once was.
Apart from working on something I am truly passionate about, Football Radar gives me the opportunity to work in a cool and young environment with other like-minded people from all over the world. I am encouraged to bring up new ideas for the future and can challenge myself every round. And that's with the bonus of managing my own time, which makes me feel even more trusted.
